How the Talaq Effective Date Calculator Works
Section 7(1) requires a man who divorces his wife to give the Chairman written notice as soon as may be after the pronouncement, and to send a copy to the wife. Section 7(3) then says a talaq that is not revoked earlier is not effective until ninety days expire from the day the notice is delivered to the Chairman. So the key date is the delivery of notice, never the day of pronouncement.
- Pick the law that applies and the type of dissolution.
- Enter the delivery date of the notice and tick pregnancy or revocation if they apply.
- Press Calculate to see the timeline, the countdown and the date from which the talaq takes effect.
- Use Add to Calendar to save the Arbitration Council deadline and the effective date.
Use the talaq effective date calculator again whenever the delivery date, pregnancy or revocation facts change. Keep proof of the delivery date, such as a postal receipt or the Chairman’s receiving stamp, because every date in this talaq effective date calculator depends on it. If your timeline also involves a court deadline, check it with the Limitation Period Calculator.

Fiqah e Jafria: Why This Talaq Effective Date Calculator Shows No Date
The 2021 amendment added a proviso to Section 7(1) for parties who belong to Fiqah e Jafria. Talaq must be pronounced by the man, or his authorized attorney, in literal Arabic words in the physical presence of at least two witnesses who meet Article 17(1) of the Qanun e Shahadat 1984. It is ineffective if done jokingly or under anger, intoxication, insanity, duress or coercion, and disputes go to a court of competent jurisdiction or to the Mujtahid e Alam. Section 7(1A) adds that divorce matters of this community are decided according to Fiqah e Jafria. Because of this, the talaq date calculator does not compute a date for that case, and you should apply the proviso to your facts. Our iddat calculator covers the Fiqah e Jafria rules.
Mistakes to Avoid With the Talaq Effective Date Calculator
- Do not count from the pronouncement. The period starts when the notice is delivered to the Chairman.
- Do not forget pregnancy. The later of the ninety days and the end of the pregnancy governs.
- Do not treat the ninety days as iddat. The Ordinance does not speak about iddat at all.
- Do not trust any talaq effective date calculator that ignores pregnancy or the delivery date of notice.
- Do not skip the notice. Failing to give it is an offence under Section 7(2).
- Do not assume a revoked talaq stays pending. Revocation before expiry stops it from becoming effective under Section 7(3).
